FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When choosing a mobile phlebotomy service, a lot of questions can arise. We are here to help. Below are our most frequently received questions.
Why choose us?
Illinois Phlebotomy Services is a private phlebotomy company that provides a state-certified, trained forensic phlebotomist to draw the subject’s blood at the police station. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using our service will not only save time for the police officer – from having to take the subject to the nearest hospital to be tested – but also ensures the integrity of the specimen being collected. Furthermore, our services help to expedite the DUI process and provides a stronger case for the prosecution process.
Where do I purchase the DUI kits?
Any police department that wishes to utilize our services DOES NOT have to purchase the required DUI kits. Illinois Phlebotomy Services will provide the legal kits needed for the DUI blood draws, at no extra cost to your police department. Our kits are Illinois court-approved BU-2IL. These kits are designed specifically to be used for DUI blood and urine specimen collection. Please call or submit an inquiry for any additional details on these kits.
Is a search warrent required?
If the subject is being charged with a felony, a warrant is REQUIRED prior to our phlebotomist performing the blood draw. In most other cases, a search warrant is strongly encouraged. However, if the subject is consenting to phlebotomy services, we accommodate services as well.
Where is the blood draw performed?
All blood draws will be performed at the police station or hospital only.
What happens to the specimens?
After the collection of the specimen(s), the phlebotomist will follow the chain of custody procedure, turning the sealed specimen over to the arresting officer, after which the police department will submit the specimen(s) to the crime lab.
